She moved from Meridian, Mississippi, her hometown, to Franklin, Tennessee at the age of 14. Her parents divorced when she was younger, both were remarried. She was very shy and suffered by strong stage fright. After moving to Tennessee, Hayley started taking vocal lessons and played roles in various school productions. This helped her to get a grip over her stage fear. Although she had always tried to improve her voice and write small melodies and songs, when she met brothers Josh and Zac Farro, they introduced her to such rock greats as The Cure, U2, Sparta, and Failure. In a recent interview, Hayley said, “It was all so new for me. It really challenged me to use my voice in different ways. It was also good for me as a writer because I realized that lyrics didn’t have to be simple pop stuff; they could be harder and deeper.”


Hayley teamed up with the Farro brothers, neighbor Jason Bynum, and friend Jeremy Davis to form Paramore. In December 2005 Bynum left Paramore, and was replaced by Hunter Lamb. After winning a school talent show and playing at local clubs, Paramore were talent spotted. Hayley has two sisters. Her parents are divorced. Her mother has re-married. She spends a lot of her free time writting love letters to pmorelostsongs.

After being adopted by rock label Fueled By Ramen, Paramore began recording almost immediately. In Summer 2005, they released their first album ‘All We Know Is Falling’ when Hayley was only 17. In an interview, Hayley said, “It was great. We’ve learned a lot since then. I think we’d probably do a lot of things very differently now. But it was a great experience and I’m grateful we had the opportunity.” Many of Hayley’s lyrics are from the heart, and she states that she “always tries to write from personal experience. At first what I was writing was kind of metaphorical, but now I’ve been trying to be more straightforward. It’s all about things that have happened to me or to the people that I love.”

Gerard Way as a Writer

“When I was writing it, I was remembering how hard it was to be a 16-year-old in high school. I always wanted to be an artist, so I was this loner kid who just got drunk all the time. I only had one real friend. There was a girl I really liked, and she ended up taking really sleazy photographs with her boyfriend, and that really crushed me, I was just swimming in this pit of despair, jealousy and alcoholism.” (Gerard Way)

Do you know Gerard Way? Yeah, he's vocalist for famous world band called My Chemical Romance. But do you know, he also known as a writer of many books, and also known as a cartoonist (The Breakfast Monkey is one of his cartoon that he made)? This article will tell you about a book wich written by Gerard Way (and Gabriel Ba), and here we go!

The Umbrella Academy is an unusual comic book about a number of odd occurrences. The world of The Umbrella Academy is strictly one of fantasy and the art work here by Gabriel Ba is appropriate to this setting. This first trade paperback of The Umbrella Academy contains the first 6 issues first published in 2007 or so. One of the telling items of The Umbrella Academy is that it is created by Gerard Way a very popular singer of the band Chemical Romance. There seems to be a bit of carping about that, as if it mattered any, which of course it doesn't. Mr. Way is surely good enough as a writer to have a comic book via Dark Horse Comics. You do get the sense from the book that he wants to keep the two genres separate, and with young men hugely into Comic Books and Rock Music he may not want to be stepping on any perceptions.

The basic premise of these first issues concerns the birth of about 43 children by women who weren't pregnant! There isn't a whole lot of explanation to this occurrence. 7 of the children are immediately adopted by Millionaire inventor Reginald Hargreeves who informs the world that the children he adopted will save it one day. From here it doesn't take much time for the book to enter into the children's adult lives. One lives on the moon, he has been transformed into a sort of Ape Man with ape arms and feet! He is called Space. The other children, who are now grown adults make up an unusual group in that they each have some sort of 'powers', these powers don't seem too self-evident at first... and one Vanya has no powers but can play the violin.

Well as things progress The Umbrella Academy is reformed after the death of their beloved caretaker/father Hargreeves, who apparently was admired and loved by the children but didn't love them back, or so they believe. There is quite a bit about him not loving them, and Hargreeves doesn't like them calling him father. And oh yes, there is a talking monkey as well. The Apocalypse part comes in play as some villains from in the past try to kill the newly formed Umbrella Academy and Vanya, the Academy member without any special powers becomes a killer with a violin. She plays and people die, so her brother's and sisters must stop her from apparently destroying the world... by playing her death tunes.

That's the just of The Umbrella Academy, which I felt was a bit loose yet promising towards the end. I can't say that I was 'touched' by the story, but there is surely much to work with here and perhaps I'll look further into the later issues of this series. I want to see how things Mature, if the characters really have that extra dimension that will make the series noteworthy.

My Chemical Romance

No, my chemical romance isn't about chemical compounds and how they relate to hormones, endorphins or anything else. My chemical romance is a music band that's also known as My Chem or MCR. My Chemical Romance is an American rock band that's been around since 2001; at least as far as the music charts are concerned. As a matter of fact, My Chemical Romance hails from New Jersey. It's not so easy to categorize exactly what type of music they play, although 'alternative rock' would be a good place to start.

My Chemical Romance band members include Gerard and Mikey Way, Frank Iero, Ray Toro and Bob Bryar. Mickey is the one who had the honors naming the group, and he says he got the name from a book called 'Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance'. Wherever the name came from, they began as the brainchild of former band member Matt Pelissier after he witnessed the 9/11 attack on the World Trade towers, which prompted him to write a song called 'Skylines and Turnstiles'.

Eventually, My they signed a record contract and their debut album, 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love' was cut and released. My Chemical Romance followed that album in 2003 with their second, called 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge', released in 2004. The album went platinum. But all was not well with the My Chemical Romance band members and Matt Pelissier left the group due, according to gossip, to an argument with Ray Toro about his drum playing abilities.

In 2005, My Chemical Romance warmed up audiences for the Taste of Chaos tour and then later for Green Day, and later that year, they opened their very own tour around the United States. Following that lukewarm success, My Chemical Romance joined in on a benefit single that was released on iTunes and Internet music download websites, playing for a cover of 'Under Pressure' of Queen fame.

More recently, in early 2006, they released a new CD titled, 'Life on the Murder Scene'. My Chemical Romance then proceeded to work on their third release, cut under a working title of 'The Rise and Fall of My Chemical Romance'. Fans will just have to wait and see what develops from that.

Last year, in 2006, mishaps befell two of the My Chemical Romance band members while working on a music video that caused the band to cancel several appearances. Nevertheless, My Chemical Romance had fans lining up for their show in London this past summer, to kick off the release of their latest album, 'The Black Parade', which was released in the United States later that year.

And for all the My Chemical Romance fans out there, prepare for a 2007 My Chemical Romance arena tour in England, though whether or not My Chemical Romance will add performances in the United States isn't known at this point in time.

Rock Music

Rock music is a popular from of music that is accompanied by instruments like drums, guitar and bass. Rock music in itself has many styles that were incorporated by musicians who loved this music. One can come across rock music where instruments like synthesizers, piano and organ is also used. Rock music began in the early fifties in United States and the United Kingdom and like all popular music has it own loyal fan following. Rock music was subsequently mixed with many other elements of music to give their own touch to rock music. Rock song subsequently over the years had many new genres added in its fold.

So in 1970s jazz was blended with rock to create jazz rock music, and then it was blended with folk music resulting in folk rock and later Latin, soul and funk music also had its influences on rock music at times. Today we have different categories under rock music and some of the popular ones are heavy metal rock, progressive rock, blues rock, soft rock, punk rock and techno rock among others. In the 1980’s and 1990’s many new additional genres of rock music such as Brit pop rock, Indie rock, alternative rock, hard rock and grunge style rock were introduced. The United Kingdom is another country where rock country flourished and British rock is also as famous as American rock music all over the world.

One of the greatest rock music band The Beatles is from Britain and they are famous worldwide for their songs and rock music. Through 1970 Pink Floyd was the most influential band in the rock music scene. This group had four artists and all of them were from Britain. The kind of rock music that Pink Floyd was sang was known as psychedelic rock. The folk scene combined with rock gave the new term folk rock. Here all the traditional songs were combined with the instruments that were traditionally associated with rock music. This genre of music was pioneered by Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. Some of the other popular rock folk rock music artists include Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and The Band.

Progressive rock is one genre of rock music which went beyond the established musical norms and was more experimental in nature. Singers and musicians that were associated with this genre loved to experiment with different types of instruments, beats, musical forms of type of songs. Bands that played progressive rock music borrowed elements from jazz, folk, electronic and classical music to experiment with rock that turned out to be very successful. Some of the bands that were into singing progressive rock included Camel, Can, Barclay James Harvest, King Crimson, Magma and Yes among many others. Music be it of any kind rock music, house music, gospel music, folk music or country music each has its own touch and of course its own group of loyal followers.

American idiot Reviews

The super talented group Green Day have released their most recent CD on the Reprise recording label, entitled American Idiot.

Green Day have been a heavy hitters in the Rock genre for quite some time now and American Idiot is an excellent illustration as to why.

American Idiot has a nicely varied, mix of 12 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly gifted musicians. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

If you're even mildly into Rock music you'll enjoy this album. Overall American Idiot is an outstanding release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with one single track.

While the entire album is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 4 - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, track 5 - Are We The Waiting, and track 11 - Wake Me Up When September Ends.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 7 - Give Me Novacaine. This is a great track!

Gibson Guitar History

One of the most popular and loved guitars ever made is the Gibson guitar. It all started way back when a man by the name of Orville Gibson started making mandolins in his small workshop located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A few years later in 1902, Orville started up the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Manufacturing Company.

Gibson sold mostly mandolins until the early 20's when guitars started to gain in popularity. During these early stages of guitar production, Gibson came out with arch-top guitar designs and truss rod neck construction.

In 1936, Gibson introduced the ES-150 and ended up creating a sound that was never heard before. The ES-150 (the ES stands for Electric Spanish) featured magnetic pickups and an F-hole arch top design. A guitarist by the name of Charlie Christian loved the sound of this guitar and stated using it regularly. He was so well known for using this model that the guitar is still known as the Charlie Christian model to this day.

In the 40's, Gibson came out with a couple new concepts to influence the way guitars were to be made. They introduced the first 3 pickup guitar and they also introduced the sharply pointed cutaway top.

The 50's were a great time for Gibson as well because that was when a man by the name of Les Paul got involved with the company. Because of the popularity of the Fender guitar, Gibson decided to start producing solid-body guitars and Les Paul had been working on the solid-body concept since the 1930's. So Les Paul was brought in to give his input and endorse these new types of guitars. In 1952 the first Les Paul was introduced and the most famous Gibson guitar was born.

Soon different models of the Les Paul were created including the Custom, Standard, Special and Junior. In 1954, the top models had tune-o-matic bridges put on them and in 1957; the famous humbucker pickup was introduced to the Gibson lineup. Also in the 50's, the unusual designs of the Gibson Explorer and Flying V made their debut.

One of Gibson's main competitors around this time was Epiphone Guitars. Epiphone fell on some hard times and Gibson ended up buying them with a plan to just continue selling their successful line of upright bass's. Soon after the purchase though, Gibson realized that they could use the Epiphone name to satisfy the requests of dealers that wanted to sell Gibson products. Most of the Epiphone guitars of today are the more economical versions of the Gibson guitar models.

In 1961, Gibson changed the design of the Les Paul model to a double cutaway design. Les Paul didn't like the way the new design looked so he told Gibson that he didn't want his name on it. Gibson then changed the name to the new double-cutaway model to the Gibson SG.

Gibson decided to open up a factory specifically for the production of the Les Paul guitars in 1974. This new home for Gibson was named "Gibson USA" and is located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Things weren't so bright for the company by the late 80's and Gibson ended up in deep financial difficulty. In 1986, the company was sold to the trio of David Berryman, Henry Juszkiewicz and Gary Zebrowski. This change in ownership had a huge impact on the company and quickly restored Gibson's reputation and profitability.

The Gibson guitar company is still as popular as ever today with professional and hobby musicians around the world. The Les Paul is my personal favorite with its beautiful tone and sexy design. Gibson has recently come out with the Slash signature model to go with the other signature models such as the Billy Joe Armstrong (Greenday), Steve Jones (The Sex Pistols), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Johnny Winter and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin). That's a great line up of artists but it's only a small fraction of the amount of famous guitar players that strap on a Gibson guitar. Some of the other guitarists that rock out with Gibson are Angus Young (AC/DC), Chuck Berry, Peter Frampton, Ace Frehley (Kiss), George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), B. B. King, Robby Krieger (The Doors), John Lennon, Bob Marley , Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones), Pete Townshend (The Who), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne), Frank Zappa and many MANY more!
